Mr. Peepers The Kitten in a Box Cake

29 Apr

Here is the latest cake that I created, it is a Kitten is a Box Cake, I named the Kitten Mr. Peepers but I did not let him know that I put him in a pink box, lol…. so don’t tell him he may be upset that he did not get a blue or yellow box!!!  I just laid the box top to the side so that I did not mess up the icing that is on the kitty, this cake was sooo much fun to create!!!

Meet my newest Gumpaste Puppy Named Scuddles

21 Apr

Hello Sugar Friends

I wanted to share my newest gumpaste spotted puppy complete with her very own gumpaste dog bones, ohh she is just soo cute isn’t she??

My puppy’s name is Scuddles and she is very happy to meet you!!

To Add Blush to Your Figurines  Many have asked so here is how I do the blush on the cheeks of my figurines…. when you are creating figurines and such you can add blush to the cheeks and create an adorable look.

All you need is a Pink Edible Marker…. which are available online and at many cake decorating stores,  just rub the tip of the marker on the tip of your finger and immediately use your finger to rub the coloring on the cheeks of your piece, now if you get too much on there, no problem!  Just use a damp paper towel to wipe it away and if you need to add a bit more repeat the above steps!!!

Members of www.cakedecoratingwithdonna.com are learning to create my little friend Scuddles the gumpaste puppy!! If you would like more information about becoming a member of  cdwd’s how-to website, so that you can learn to create your very own sugar figurines as well as the latest cake techniques such as designer purse cakes, etc…be sure to check it out!!!

My baby is 18 today, WOW!!

14 Apr

Hello all my sugar friends!!!

Today is my oldest son’s birthday, ohh my goodness I cannot believe he is now 18…. You know they always say the years go soo fast well I guess it does cause I am just blown away that it has been 18 yrs. I will be 40 this year which is just too much to think about, lol…. I can remember finding out I was pregnant, My husband and I were on the way to his grandfathers funeral and I had a doctors appt to stop at on the way and that is when I found out that we would be having a baby! I remeber calling my mom and telling her that she would be having her first grandchild she was soo excited. The prenancy was kinda tough but well worth it in my mind. Ryan was almost 10 pounds when he was born so I swore I would never have another child after that ordeal, lol…. But after 3 yrs I got over it and had my second son.

My oldest screamed and cried his first month in this world, so it was tough to deal with, he always wanted your attention and the funny thing he is still that same way today!!!! lol. He has been a great child all of his life we have never had any issues that some parents have to deal with so I am a very blessed mom. He now works 2 jobs while in his senior yr of high school and does a great job making his own decisons. We are preparing for his high school graduation which is just around the corner. I have a few cakes to make for these different events!!

We are getting him prepared for college in the fall, he is planning to study to be a sugical tech. I am soo proud of him, and I cannot wait to experience all the future holds for our family!

In just 3 short yrs our youngest son will be graduating high school, omg then what will I do???

It is amazing how life just keeps moving forward no matter what is going on! I am a very blessed person to have 2 awesome boys and the best husband in the entire world! I am soo excited about the future and all that it holds….

Fondant/Gumpaste Animal Cake Toppers- Lion, Monkey, Elephant, Zebra, Giraffe

7 Apr

The love of Fondant/Gumpaste Animal Cake Toppers is just growing larger and larger around the world. I have been receiving many orders for my animals and these are my latest cake toppers that I created for a Baby Shower Cake. Each one is hand sculpted from sugar paste. They can be very time consuming, trying to get each detail for the sifferent animals. The part I love is how each one seems to have their own look and tell their own story. I hope you enjoyed looking at my little sugar animals.
