The love of Fondant/Gumpaste Animal Cake Toppers is just growing larger and larger around the world. I have been receiving many orders for my animals and these are my latest cake toppers that I created for a Baby Shower Cake. Each one is hand sculpted from sugar paste. They can be very time consuming, trying to get each detail for the sifferent animals. The part I love is how each one seems to have their own look and tell their own story. I hope you enjoyed looking at my little sugar animals.

can I use Gum tragacant instead of Tylos as Tylos is not available in India
Yes, gum trag is used in the same manner as tylose powder!
Hi, I have a question….I want to make star wars figurines for my son’s b-day cake, from what I’ve read here, I think it would be better with gumpaste, so they become harder and last longer…..do you make the gumpaste from scratch?? If so, could you give me the recipe???….I Live in Mexico and I can’t find the premade powder anywhere!!!…I hopee you can help me!, thanks!!!
Marcela….I only purchase my gumpaste to be honest, making gumpaste can be tricky at times, hehe. The brand of gumpaste that I purchase is called Satin Ice. If you can get ahold of fondant and tylose powder then you can use that instead of gumpaste. You would add the tylose powder to the fondant and that is how we make a quick version of gumpaste. I hope that I was of some help…I understand how tough it can be when you cannot get the proper ingredients. If you want a recipe for gumpaste just do a google search for gumpaste and you will have several that will come up. I wish ya the best and would love to see your figurine when you get it finished.
These are fab, are you still making them? What size are they and how much do they cost each? Many thanks.
Thanks for your nice comment….I do not sell my figurines at this time, thank you!
WOW thank you so much for this, I’ve undercharged so many times because i’m too afraid of overcharging. The fact is that my cakes taste better than some “professional” cakes & I should charge according to that. I am SO keen to buy your book, do you know if you’ll be shipping internationally?
Thanks again!!!
You are soo very welcome Alissa!! To answer your question I am going to do my best to make that happen for those outside the U.S. there are many of your outside the U.S that I follow my blog and also want additional info on cake pricing and business secrets so like I said we will do our best to see if we can ship internationally……When we have the all ready to go and setup for purchases I will make a posting on the front page of the blog as well as emailing those of you who have asked to be notified when the book is ready!! Alissa I wish you the best my friend, pricing cakes is soo intimidating to deal with but like you said your cake taste better than some Professional cakes, so do some research for your area and find out exactly what is a fair price for what you do and start earning what your work is worth my friend!!
All my best!
Hi, I too fear of the same, and my most difficult part is costing, Though my cakes tastes so well, cannot overcharge until this job forms pretty well. I am from Sri Lanka, and hope you could workout for shipments outside US at your earliest.
Thanks a lot for your work, which is very useful for people like us who have the passion in cake making.
God bless you all other friends in this field..
Hi Donna—is the book you’ve mentioned about available for purchase? I am looking now on how to create a safari themed birthday cake for my son’s first birthday in May. I love your work and your animals are exactly what I am hoping to create, however while creative, I’ve yet to make figures such as you have…..kinda need some direction
Thank you for your time.
Where at in Ohio are you located. I have done a few cakes but would like some direction on fondant and gum paste creations. Do you teach people how to do these?
Hello Angela…..
I am on the edge of Columbus, yes I do classes at my home and when we have several people who are interested I do workshops as well in different areas. I will email you directly after the holidays.
I love you animals and would love to learn how to make them. I joined your website, I lookes to see if you hand any CD tutorials on how to make them and did not find anything. Do you a tutorial on how to do each one. Please direct me in the right direccion. Thank you, I love your website and am looking forward to learn eveything that you have on there.
As far as videos for my animals there are some which are not avail on video at this time, however I am in the process of writing a book which will show how to create each of my animals.
Can you tell me how long you can store these figurines and how do you store them? I am willing to try to make them, but knowing they will take lots of time, I need to start early.
Thanks for the adorable ideas!
Please let me know if you sell these animals and how long would it take to get them. Where in Ohio are you from?
I’m very sorry but at this time I do not sell my figures, as they require lots of time and people do not want to pay for the time that it takes to create these figures.
Donna,
Is their a good market for selling fondant figures. I am very good at it and have recently became unemployed.
Hi Linda
Yes, there is a market for selling figurines, however the issue is that most people, not ALL are not very willing to pay for all the time that it can take to create fondant figures…Some people think that you can create a figure in a day and only want to pay you $20. So to be honest I guess it would depend on the hours it takes you to create each one and how detailed you want to be, my issue is I love to be very detailed so I seem to never make much money by the time I spend literally days working on 1 figure. I have sold many but you have to plan accordingly for shipping them, especially in the hot weather you can have issues with them sitting in the hot delivery trucks waiting to be delivered….There is no harm in giving it a shot, decide what you will sell and set your prices and stick to them, people will try to guilt you into cheaper prices. I wish you the best if you have any other questions just let me know!!
I am helping out with a baby shower and the theme is the baby jungle and I would like to make these animals ahead of time so everything is not at the last minute. How long ahead of time can you make them, and how can you store so they dont dry out
? thank you Cheryl
By the way yours are adorable!
Figurines can be made up several months ahead of time and stored in a cardboard box with a lid until they are needed….never store them in the refrigerator
Donna,
These are the cutest little animals. I am making a cake for my sister in laws baby shower and was wondering how much you would charge for them…I would like a monkey, zebra and giraffe to sit on the top of an 8″ round cake. I am not sure how big the animals should be but if you would like I can send you a pic of the cake I am going to try replicate.
Any info would be great. Also, I live in Gardner Ks so I was wondering if you can ship them if you are willing to make some for me.
Thanks
Catherine

Donna,
Your work is amazing! I too would love to find the time to decorate cakes but with two small children, a traveling husband, and my own full time job – time is limited. Do you sell your the fondant jungle animals, if so I that would make my day! My son’s 1st bday is coming up soon and the theme is a jungle/safari theme. What is your price for the giraffe, elephant, lion, and zebra, if you do sell them?

I am in need of some fondant or fondant looking jungle animals for my son’s 1st birthday cake. I don’t have the skill to make my own and I’m afraid that the cake place doesn’t know how to make them. Do you know where I can purchase these or do you sell them. I’m will to pay nicely. I want the giraffe, elephant, lion and zebra if possible.
