Rocio........Sorry I am just getting to your questions, I do try to get to them as soon as I can but for some reason your comment did not go to the correct area and I am just finding it in my spam area.....But I will answer anyways just in case you or others are looking for the same answer to your question. Let me say thanks to you for your kind comments on my work I truly appreciate it very much!!

Alot of times I use candy molds for different objects that I want to put on a cake, since it is sometimes difficult to always find just the right mold for something. So try looking at different candy molds that have the theme that you are wanting to create and see if you can locate what you want that way. I know that I have seen the palm trees in a candy mold before.

To use the candy molds with fondant just add a small amount of powder sugar to the mold and push the fondant into the cavity, them flip mold over and hit on your table to loosen it, hopefully it will come right out, if not try placing the mold into the freezer for 10 minutes and this will harden the fondant just enough to allow you to get it out of the mold.

I hope this gives you some ideas in the future for your cakes, I know that one day you will be well on your way to creating some beautiful creations, it just takes some practice!! All my best Rocio!!

I am a mom with very basic knowledge of baking, but I'd like to decorate my son's cakes for their birthdays or cupcakes for other occasions. A friend of mine just made some wonderful decorations for my youngest son's 1st birthday, and that's how I was introduced to fondant and gumpaste decorations.
Your cakes are awesome! I'm speechless at the level of detail and perfection in all your pictures! I wish some day I can achieve something similar!
I am planning on making my oldest son's birthday cake with the Go Diego, Go theme, and I was looking for palm trees/jungle animals molds. Do you have any idea where can I get those? I've googled it but I haven't been successful.
Thank you so much, for the info and for your web page!

Hello Vicki.....

To take care of the issue of the sugarpaste sticking to the cutter, what your Mum can do is to do as she normally does and then place the cutter with the sugarpaste still attached into the freezer, this will allow the sugarpaste to setup and harden a bit so it will come out of the cutter much easier. I would allow it to sit in the freezer for about 10 mins and check to see if the sugarpaste will come out of the cutter if not place it back into the freezer for an additional 10 mins.

Hi everyone,
Im hoping you can maybe help me out (well my Mum actually). Mum has no internet access, so said i would post this on her behalf.
Mum makes beautiful cakes for friends birthdays etc and she has been asked to do my friends wedding cake. She has bought the Jem Bubble & Frieze scroll cutter, which is perfect for the job, but after practising for a while now but each time the sugarpaste sticks in the cutter and she cant get it out. She has tried cornflour which is what she has used on other cuttters in the past but its not working. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

This is the link to the cutters Im talking about. Its the scroll one.

Jovita

Thanks soo much for such kind words my friend! I pray that your recovery goes perfect, I truly understand where you come from....I too have suffered for several yrs from horrible back pain as well as a failed back surgery and to end up now needing additional surgery....please take it easy and don't over do it with your cakes, I know it is soo tempting to just go crazy since cake decorating is addicting once you get started. Make sure you have given your back the needed time to heal properly is most important!!!!!

I am soo excited for you.....sounds like you did a very good job on your moms cake, that is how it all starts jovita one cake at a time and with each one you get more and more practice, take your time as you go and you will do very well my friend!

I wish you alll my best!
